In my experience it was only unsafe to save in the Hunter's Dream when the Doll was on the balcony, but it seems this was patched (I tested it a moment ago). It should now be safe to save in the Hunter's Dream wherever the Doll is.

Do you have any additional info?  This isn't really enough to go on to try to suggest solutions.

As far as I know, a DS4 should work fine through Steam. The joysticks are not used - is that possibly what you're running into? If it is, you can use Steam to remap the controls if you want joystick movement.

Here is a simple remap if you want to try it:
steam://controllerconfig/bloodborne%20psx%20demake/2816129592

But I'd recommend messing around with your controller configuration until you find something comfortable for you. The configuration I personally use is more complex than the one I shared - it automatically holds the walk button when I only slightly push the left joystick; right trigger activates a macro that opens the menu, scrolls to right-hand weapons, transforms the weapon, and closes the menu; when I hold left bumper to bring up the gun cross-hairs, it makes the right joystick control the camera instead of the left ("aim down sights" camera controls work with the d-pad by default so you can aim up and down, where the normal camera, controlled by the triggers by default, cannot be aimed up and down); that kind of thing. If that interests you or anyone reading this, let me know and I can make a shareable version of that.

I hope the lack of joystick functionality is all it turns out to be and you don't need to go digging for another solution! I wish you luck, good hunter!

this will respawn one-time pickup items and many non-respawning enemies, afaik

Happy to help!

You can do this very easily if you add the game to Steam

Sekiro is harder than all the Souls games imo, but yes the demake is quite a bit easier than the actual game

try one less level. it lets you see what the cost for the next level will be even if you dont have the echoes for it

Arcane scaling currently doesn't work at all on weapons. Tonitrus, Flamesprayer, and Torch all completely lack any scaling benefits. Arcane scaling works properly for Blacksky Eye and A Call Beyond.

Thank you! This was a delight. It makes me wonder if there are any other doors that do this hahaha

I used to Steam to basically map a macro to the right trigger. The macro

On press:

  1. Presses start
  2. Waits half a second
  3. Presses down
  4. Waits half a second
  5. Presses L1

On release:

  1. Waits half a second
  2. Presses start

I need to wait a moment before releasing the trigger so the final input doesn't get dropped, but it works. It takes at least 1.5 seconds but if I wait for the right opening I can get it off mid-fight.

I just need to be careful not to press and hold R2 when I'm in the menu because it will close the menu, turn the character toward the camera, and fire my gun hahaha

But yeah, I do agree it would be nice to open right up to the right-hand weapon.

I realized I didn't include the Flamesprayer in my list! You can get it by talking to Gilbert (the man at the window by the Central Yharnam lantern) after you defeat the Cleric Beast, but before you defeat Gascoigne. (It might technically be after you interact with the Great Bridge gate and before you interact with the Tomb of Oedon gate, I'm not sure what the actual triggers are.)

I totally forgot to test the Flamesprayer! Tested Flamesprayer +5 under the same conditions as above - it always does 31 damage per tick and does not benefit from Arcane.

This did not happen for me. My saves are still in [user]/appdata/local/bbpsx. This might only be the case if you're using the itch launcher (I am not).

BloodbornePSX community · Created a new topic "Secret area"

Does anyone know how to access the garden in the Hunter's Dream? The devlog for 1.04 reports that there is a teleport gravestone in a "Secret area," the image on the 1.04 devlog page shows this gravestone in the garden, and if you stand near the gate and skew your camera just right you can see it in-game.

If you set the window resolution to 960 x 720 and the Screen Resolution to 1/3, I believe you effectively get 320 x 240.

You need to save at a lantern or the doll before you quit. There are no auto-saves.

You can unlock weapon transformations once you have 1 insight and can access the workshop in the Hunter's Dream.

Yeah, sorry. My wording was confusing. If your OS was 32-bit, you'd have a problem.

No launcher needed - just extract the zip file where you want it and open BBPSX.exe located in WindowsNoEditor. If you plan on using a controller and want to change any controls, you might want to add it to Steam, but that's not necessary to play the game.

Your saves are in a different location, so they will be safe. Update with peace of mind!

Your saves are in a completely different location from the game directory. Updating or even deleting the game will not cause you to lose progress. You can replace old installations with new ones with peace of mind.

The Graphics settings will save if you go into the Audio settings and select "Back."

Just try it. It's free and small.

The control scheme is not at all likely to be changed, and options for it are very unlikely to be added.

A way around this is to add the game to Steam, open Controller Configuration, change your left joystick input type to Directional Pad, assign the 4 d-pad buttons to the 4 directions, change your right joystick input type to Directional Pad, and assign Left Trigger to left and Right Trigger to right, leaving up and down blank.

If you're still experiencing this issue, try changing the Graphics settings to what you want, select "Back," select "Audio," and select "Back." At the moment it's bugged and the only way to get the game to save your settings from the main menu is to go into the Audio settings and back out.

The game is free and the download is small, so I'd recommend just installing it and giving it a whirl. The main thing I've seen people run into in terms of compatibility is when people are running a 32-bit operating system. I believe it's a 64-bit application, so you'd run into problems there.

I discovered a workaround for this. Going into the Audio settings (don't even need to change anything there) and selecting "Back" gets the game to save your settings. So make any changes to Graphics settings you want, select "Back," select "Audio," and select "Back." Your Graphics settings should save properly at that point.

I believe you can reset this by rolling once, but it's definitely a bug.

This is likely an issue with Windows, not the game. When you plug in a new audio device (the controller has a headset jack, thus counts as an audio device), Windows thinks it's being clever and helpful by automatically switching your audio input and output to use the controller. It's a real pain, there's no way to turn off this "feature," and the only way to prevent Windows from switching to it every time you plug it in is to disable the device, either through Windows' Sound Settings or Device Manager. Luckily the audio portion of the controller can be disabled without disabling the controller itself.

It already doesn't really support a 16:9 aspect ratio - it's purposely displayed at a 4:3 aspect ratio for the retro aesthetic. Unless you mean that a 21:9 aspect ratio stretches the picture.

There are no control settings in-game but if you're using a controller,

  1. Add the game to Steam
  2. Open Controller Configuration
  3. Select the Directional Pad
  4. Select "Mode Shifting"
  5. From the "Mode Shift Button" drop-down, select "Left Bumper"
  6. From the "Style of Input" drop-down, select "Directional Pad"
  7. Assign "DDN" to "D-Pad Up," "DUP" to "D-Pad Down," "DLT" to "D-Pad Left," and "DRT" to "D-Pad Right"

With this setup, any time you hold down "Left Bumper," your Y-axis will invert. It probably goes without saying, but you can also swap "DLT" and "DRT" to invert the X-axis. If you're using a keyboard, you may be able to accomplish something similar with PowerToys.

Just discovered that if I go into the Audio menu and select "Back," it triggers a write to MainSettings.sav but selecting "Back" from the Graphics menu does not. This still does not affect saving the Arbitrary Limiters options, which only appears to function in the character save files.

After some messing around, I found that the issue I was encountering when toggling the Arbitrary Limiters appears to extend to many, if not all, graphics settings when changed from the main menu, including the resolution (which I thought was working properly at first). I can change some of these settings by editing MainSettings.sav with a hex editor and the changes seem to stick, which leads me to believe that the game is not writing any changes to that file.

Some graphics settings are present in the character save files (maybe just the ones that are different from the default values, i.e. the ones that I changed?) but it may be preferable if they were saved exclusively in MainSettings.sav.

Some or all of the graphics settings from the main menu seem to not be saving properly (or possibly at all). I'm currently messing around with this so I can write a comment on the 1.03 devlog page (where I prefer to make note of bugs).

In my experience, if I toggle "ALL CRT FX" on/off from the graphics menu while you have a character loaded and then save at a lantern or the doll, this particular setting will be reflected at the main menu as well. Hopefully this helps in the meantime.

To stream on Discord:

  1. Open Discord settings
  2. Go to Activity Status under the header "Activity Settings"
  3. Beneath "No game detected," you should see "Not seeing your game? Add it!" Click on "Add it!"
  4. From the drop-down, select "BBPSX"
  5. Click "Add Game"

DO NOT enable the overlay. The game will not function if the Discord overlay is active. (At least this was the case with version 1.00; I haven't tested with the current version, 1.03.1)

You should now be able to stream the game as you would any other.

Yeah, basically. Your saves are in a different folder, so you can replace your current installation with the new one without any concerns of losing progress.

I believe it respawns certain non-respawning enemies and resets certain items you've picked up.

There are 10 weapons available in the game.

  • Saw Cleaver
  • Blood Spear
  • Threaded Cane
  • Tonitrus
  • Hunter Axe
  • Blades of Mercy
  • Double Barrel Shotgun
  • Hunter Blunderbuss
  • Hunter Pistol
  • Torch

The download button on the main page will give you the current version (1.03.1).
